Fire and Water: Reykjanes Volcanic Wonders & Blue Lagoon Tour
Embark on an extraordinary exploration of volcanic marvels with our Volcanic Wonders & the Blue Lagoon tour. Journey through the UNESCO-listed Reykjanes Geopark, situated atop the tectonic plate boundaries, and witness the raw beauty of Iceland's volcanic landscapes, culminating in a relaxing visit to the iconic Blue Lagoon.
Our tour leads you on an enthralling drive through landscapes so unique and surreal, they appear almost alien in their beauty. We will visit the captivating Seltún boiling mud pools, a stunning display of Iceland's raw volcanic activity. The landscape, alive with steam and vibrant colors, offers a surreal introduction to the geothermal wonders of the region.
As we traverse the Reykjanes Peninsula, you're surrounded by the wild Atlantic Ocean, vast lava fields, and numerous volcanic craters. The landscape, adorned with wind-sculpted palagonite and petrified troll formations, seems otherworldly.
A highlight of the tour is the Fagradalsfjall Volcano, Iceland's youngest volcano, surrounded by newly formed lava fields. The hike to the volcano's craters, approximately 40 minutes, allows you to witness the striking beauty resulting from its recent eruption.
We then visit the bridge between continents, a symbolic walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, illustrating the peninsula's unique geological position on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.
Before concluding at the Blue Lagoon, we stop at Gunnuhver, Iceland's largest, wildly boiling mud pool. Here, the ground vibrates with the energy of boiling water and steam, showcasing the immense power beneath the earth's surface.
End your day of exploration with a dip in the soothing waters of the Blue Lagoon (note: entrance to the Blue Lagoon is not included and must be booked in advance). The return bus to Reykjavík departs from the Blue Lagoon at 20:15, providing a relaxing end to an adventurous day.
