About this tour
This day tour to Snæfellsnes provides expert guidance and spectacular views of the incredible landscape where geological wonders loom. The tour stops at the charming fishing village of Arnarstapi, the gateway to Snæfellsjökull National Park.
The seaside cliffs are spectacular, with basalt formations including holes and arches carved out by the ocean. The ridges are a nesting ground for the arctic tern, and you’ll love taking photos with a giant stone statue of Bárður Snæfellsás with its back to the ocean not far from the parking lot.
Djúpalónssandur Beach, on the southwestern edge of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, is one of the region’s highlights and the next stop on the tour. The vast beach is covered by small black stones that were shaped by the force of the ocean tides and the lashing of the wind. You will love to wander among the frozen lava landscapes and the interesting rock formations.
The main event for many is the Snæfellsjökull glacier, which sits in the middle of the Snæfellsnes National Park. It has captured the imagination of people all over the world, including Jules Verne, who featured the glacier in his novel Journey to the Centre of the Earth. This tour offers numerous views of the glacier and proves to be a showstopper!
