Experience Iceland's untamed beauty on the South Shore Adventure: epic waterfalls, glaciers, charming towns, and the iconic black sand beach.
This South Shore Adventure is the ideal tour for nature lovers looking to explore some of the most unique and scenic sights in the South. Get ready for an action-packed day seeing epic waterfalls, charming towns, vast glaciers, and the most famous black sand beach in Iceland!
Departing from Reykjavík, the tour quickly stop at Hvolsvöllur before visiting the iconic waterfall Skógafoss. It’s a dramatic waterfall and one of the biggest in the country, as it stands 82 feet high and has a drop-off of nearly 200 feet!
After exploring Skógafoss, the tour heads to the charming small village of Vík and the hauntingly beautiful Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. Reynisfjara is probably the most photographed black sand beach in Iceland. Visitors love the striking contrast of white waves crashing on the black sand and the interesting basalt rock formations. However, be sure to read the warning signs and not get too close to the waves, as it can be dangerous.
Next, get ready to get close to some actual ice in Iceland. Your guide stops at Sólheimajökull glacier, where you can walk close to a small lake that formed in front of the vast glacier. The size and beauty of the glacier are breathtaking.
The last highlight of the tour is Seljalandsfoss, a beautiful waterfall with a thin stream plunging metres below. What makes Seljalandsfoss unique is the ability to walk behind the falls on a footpath. It’s a memorable experience, but it can get a little wet. It’s recommended to bring either a waterproof jacket along if you want to walk behind it.
