Stokksnes is a windswept headland on Iceland's southeast coast near Höfn, best known for the dramatic Vestrahorn mountain that rises sharply behind it. The jagged, multi-peaked massif reflected in black volcanic sand and shallow tidal lagoons makes it one of the country's most photographed landscapes, especially at sunrise, sunset and under the northern lights.
The peninsula sits on private land managed from the Viking Café, where a small admission fee grants access to the beach, dunes and a recreated Viking-village film set. Its black sand, grassy tufts and ever-changing light draw photographers year-round, with calm days offering mirror-like reflections of Vestrahorn.
