Travelling with Children

Icelandia is a family-friendly tour operator, and we want every member of your group — including the youngest travellers — to enjoy a safe and comfortable journey. Please read the information below when booking a tour or airport transfer with us.
Safety and seat belts
Our fleet includes coaches of all types and sizes, all fitted with seat belts. By Icelandic law, every passenger must wear a seat belt where one is fitted, and children under 135 cm must use an appropriate child seat secured with a seat belt whenever the vehicle is in motion.
We carry a limited number of child seats, available free of charge on request. Please request a child seat in advance when you book so we can make sure one is available for your tour. Infant seats must be provided by the parent or guardian.
Children on Flybus airport transfers
Our Flybus airport transfers follow their own age and weight guidance for child safety:
- Children aged 1–3 years must travel in an appropriate car seat.
- Children aged 4 and older (over 18 kg) may use the standard seat belts on board.
- Children under 1 year (under 9 kg) require a three-point car seat, which our buses are not equipped for. For their safety, they cannot be booked on the Flybus.
If you are travelling with a child who needs a car seat on the Flybus, please contact our customer service at least 24 hours before your journey so we can make sure one is available.
Children's fares
We offer reduced fares for children travelling with a full-paying adult. Minimum ages and the number of children allowed per adult vary between tours, so please check each tour's description and select the correct child or youth fare when booking.
Age guidance on tours
Some tours and activities have minimum age requirements for safety reasons — for example certain adventure, glacier, hiking, diving or small-group tours. Any age limits are shown in the individual tour description, so please review these before you book. Tours that include geothermal lagoons or other third-party attractions may also be subject to those operators' own age policies.
Booking and preparing for your trip
When booking a tour or transfer that includes a child, please remember to select the child or youth fare, request any child seat in advance, and dress children for Icelandic weather. Warm, waterproof layers and sturdy footwear are recommended in all seasons, as many tours include short walks outdoors.
