This may be the coolest workplace in the world and we're not just saying that. Adventure Ground is in fact two base camps, each with their own tours and characteristics.
Sólheimajökull Base Camp
One base camp is situated at the foot of Sólheimajökull glacier with its spectacular views over the lagoon. This is where our glacier tours on Sólheimajökull depart from, including our glacier walks and kayaking tours on the glacier lagoon by Sólheimajökull.
Mýrdalsjökull Base Camp
The other Adventure Ground base camp is just 10 minutes away, a little further East, at the foot of Mýrdalsjökull glacier. This is where our motorized adventure tours depart from, including our buggy and ATV tours.
But this is also the main base of the area, where we operate our Plane Wreck Shuttle from and the location of our garage, our offices in the region and where staff members, including our glacier guides that spend their day at Sólheimajökull, live and sleep. Staff accommodation is free on shift days and for those that wish to live at Mýrdalsjökull full time, they can rent their rooms on off days for a very reasonable price. Accommodation includes a gym, a sauna, a full working kitchen with a chef and all meals included, a sizeable lounge, a brand-new deck, firepit and some pretty unbeatable views over the area. If you're a mountain guide, a motorhead or simply an outdoorsy nerd that loves nature, this might be your dream location for work and play.
