Travelling with a wheelchair?
If you’re travelling with a wheelchair, you can book a Flybus equipped with a wheelchair lift. Bookings need to be made at least 72 hours in advance to ensure availability.
Because Flybus transfers between Keflavík and Reykjavík operate with flexible departure times, our service team will contact you before your trip to confirm your arrival time and make sure an accessible vehicle is ready for you when you land.
Please note that due to limitations, only one wheelchair space can be booked per booking. Travel companions who are not using a wheelchair are welcome to join you on the same bus, but they will need to book their seats separately.
Traveling with children aged 1–5 who require a wheelchair-accessible transfer?
Please contact our customer service team directly at info@icelandia.com.
Due to technical limitations in our booking system, wheelchair-accessible transfers for young children must be arranged manually.
All accessibility requests — including those for children — must be submitted at least 72 hours before the requested transfer time to ensure we can reserve a suitable vehicle.
If you have any questions about this service or the Flybus in general, please contact us info@icelandia.com.
FAQ
Yes, but these bookings cannot be made online. Because our system does not currently support free-of-charge tickets, wheelchair-accessible transfers for children aged 1–5 must be arranged through our customer service team. Please contact us at info@icelandia.com and make sure to send your request at least 72 hours before your planned transfer time so we can secure an appropriate vehicle.
Some, but not all, of our vehicles are equipped with a wheelchair lift. When you book a wheelchair-accessible Flybus, we specifically assign a vehicle with a lift so that it’s ready for you upon arrival at either Keflavik Airport or the BSI Bus Terminal.
We ask for 72 hours’ notice to ensure that an accessible vehicle is available when you arrive. Because Flybus departures from Keflavík Airport have flexible timings, our team will contact you ahead of your trip to confirm your flight number and arrival time.
This allows us to dispatch the correct vehicle, reserve it around your estimated arrival window, and account for possible flight delays — because your transfer should be as smooth and reliable as all our other services. If your flight is delayed, we wait.
Yes. A Flybus staff member operates the wheelchair lift and will assist during boarding to ensure a safe and comfortable process.
The Flybus is the most reliable airport transfer between Keflavík airport and Reykjavík. The Flybus schedule runs throughout the day, synchronised with the airport departure and arrival times—so you can be sure there’ll be a bus when you need it.
The journey between the airport and the city centre takes 45 minutes, terminating at the BSÍ bus station. Book your ticket online and travel cashfree.
The Flybus journey takes approximately 45 minutes between the BSÍ bus terminal in Reykjavík and Keflavík Airport, depending on road conditions. The distance is 50 kilometres (31 miles) each way. f you’ve booked the Flybus+ hotel drop-off service), this typically adds around 30 minutes to your journey.
If you’re travelling on the Flybus, you can bring two bags per person, weighing no more than 23 kg (50 lbs) each. They’ll be stored in the luggage compartment of the bus.
Packaged and unpackaged bicycles can be transported if space is available. The cost per bicycle is 3.800 ISK. The same fee applies to larger sports equipment such as kayaks. For maximum efficiency in the luggage compartment, we prefer that bicycles be packaged in boxes. Unpackaged bicycles must have the pedals removed and the chain covered.
Additional large luggage items (e.g. golf bags or ski equipment) are accepted based on available space. The cost for each item, such as golf bags, skis, etc., is 1.500 ISK per item, with all extra baggage subject to freight charges.
If you are travelling with more luggage than is estimated per person, we recommend that you send us an e-mail (info@icelandia.is) or call our main BSI Bus Terminal office, (+354) 599 0000, for us to make appropriate arrangements before your arrival.
