The ultimate bucket list experience in Iceland

5 daysLanguages: EnglishPickup available

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join a 6-day guided hiking tour including a total solar eclipse in Iceland.

Experience Iceland at a rare moment in time on this carefully curated 6-day guided tour, created around the Total Solar Eclipse of August 2026. Combining iconic landmarks, volcanic landscapes, and immersive guided walks, this journey offers a unique opportunity to explore Iceland’s natural highlights while witnessing a celestial event that won’t return for decades.

Your journey begins with the Golden Circle, where history and geology meet. In Þingvellir National Park, you’ll walk through the rift valley where two continents slowly drift apart, followed by visits to the powerful Gullfoss waterfall and the active Geysir geothermal area. A stop at Brúarárfoss adds a quieter yet scenic contrast to the day before settling in at Hotel Kvika on the South Coast.

A full day is dedicated to the Mt. Hengill region, one of Iceland’s most geothermally active areas. Hiking from Nesjavellir, you’ll pass steaming vents, mineral-stained hillsides, and lava fields softened by bright green moss. From viewpoints overlooking Þingvallavatn, your guide shares insights into Iceland’s energy systems and volcanic history, bringing the landscape to life.

The Reykjanes Peninsula provides the dramatic setting for the tour’s defining moment. You’ll explore geothermal hot springs at Seltún, walk across recent lava flows near Fagradalsfjall, and visit Grindavík to understand how volcanic activity continues to shape daily life. As the day draws to a close, you’ll travel to a location chosen specifically for clear horizons and optimal conditions to witness the Total Solar Eclipse, with flexibility built in to respond to weather conditions and optimal visibility.

Along the South Coast, the scenery shifts to towering waterfalls, black sand beaches, and glacial ice. Visits to the black beach of Reynisfjara, Vík, Skógafoss, and Seljalandsfoss are paired with a guided glacier hike on Sólheimajökull, where you’ll step onto the ice with professional equipment and learn about the glacier’s changing environment.
