Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon: Explore Iceland's ice wonder.

With its enormous white and blue icebergs breaking off from Vatnajökull glacier, the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is a natural wonder of Iceland, a sight you absolutely cannot miss. This scenic day tour includes a thrilling boat ride on Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, the epic waterfalls of Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss, the glittering Diamond Beach and charming Vík. Explore some of south Iceland’s most spectacular and iconic landscapes!

Expect to be wowed on this tour! You will get a front-row seat to the glacial lagoon as you sail among the gigantic icebergs and take in the power and the peace of this magnificent natural phenomenon. This easy guided tour departs from Reykjavík’s BSÍ Bus Terminal and drives south. The first stop is at the iconic Skógafoss, a dramatic waterfall and one of the biggest in the country, as it stands 82 feet high and has a drop-off of nearly 200 feet!

En route to Jökulsárlón, you will see some of Iceland’s most magnificent scenery, including the tallest mountain in Iceland, Hvannadalshnjúkur, and the sprawling black sand desert between Skaftafell National Park. Upon reaching the majestic Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, which is a result of the Breiðarmerkurjökull Glacier slowly retreating, you will explore the area and board a boat to see towering icebergs up close and personal. The lagoon covers 18 square kilometres and reaches more than 248 metres at its deepest point.

After a professional guide gives the group life jackets and provides safety information, prepare for an exciting boat ride. Sailing along the lagoon gives off a feeling of incredible tranquillity as the 1000-1500-year-old ice quietly drifts into the lagoon and slowly melts. Expect an easy, calm experience suitable for the entire family (children aged 1 and older).

Return to an icy landscape at the divine Diamond Beach, where you can see chunks of ice that sometimes wash ashore and are scattered about like giant diamonds against a backdrop of black sand. The scene is spectacular any time of year but genuinely magical when the sun shines.

On this tour we also stop at Seljalandsfoss, a beautiful waterfall with a thin stream plunging metres below and the spectacular Skógarfoss.
What makes Seljalandsfoss unique is the ability to walk behind the falls on a footpath. It’s a memorable experience, but it can get a little wet. It’s recommended to bring either a waterproof jacket along if you want to walk behind it.
Skógarfoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland, with a drop of some 60 meters and a width of 25 meters.

On our way back to Reykjavík, the bus will stop at the quaint village of Vík for dinner, and afterwards, you can walk to a Black Sand Beach and see the interesting Reynisdrangar rock formations.
