Dive Silfra and its darker sibling Davíðsgjá in one day, both in Þingvellir National Park.
8 hours•Languages: English•Pickup available
A full-day, two-dive combo at Þingvellir National Park: the world-famous Silfra fissure between the tectonic plates, followed by its deeper, darker sibling Davíðsgjá. Dry-suit dives with Reykjavík pick-up and all equipment included.
Two of Iceland's most remarkable freshwater dives in a single day, both inside Þingvellir National Park. Your day starts with pick-up from your accommodation in Reykjavík and a roughly one-hour drive to Silfra, with your guide sharing the geology and history of the area along the way.
At Silfra you dive into the crack between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, drifting through glacial meltwater filtered for decades through lava rock, with visibility of more than 100 metres. After a warming break of hot chocolate and cookies, you continue a few kilometres on to Davíðsgjá, Silfra's darker, wilder sibling: a long, narrow fissure in Lake Þingvallavatn that reaches 21 metres deep, where resident trout often join divers.
Both are dry-suit dives in cold, crystal-clear water, with a maximum of three divers per guide and all equipment provided. Certified dry-suit divers only.

Are you wondering about something?
If you're planning a trip to Iceland, it's important to be prepared with the right information. Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQs) to help you plan your trip
Both are freshwater fissures in Þingvellir National Park. Silfra is the famous one: a crack between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates with glacial water and over 100 metres of visibility. Davíðsgjá, a few kilometres away, is its darker, wilder sibling – a deeper fissure (to 21 metres) in Lake Þingvallavatn where visibility depends more on the weather and resident trout often join divers.
You must be certified at PADI Open Water Diver level (or equivalent) and hold a dry suit certification, or have at least 10 logged dry suit dives within the past two years with written proof from an instructor. You also need to complete the Diving Silfra Medical Statement, be at least 17 (a guardian's signature is required under 18), be 150–200 cm tall and 45–120 kg, be physically fit, and not be pregnant. Divers aged 60 or older need a doctor's sign-off on the medical form.
Yes – pick-up and transfer from your accommodation in Reykjavík are included, followed by an hour's drive to the Silfra meeting point in Þingvellir. Plan to arrive at the meeting point about 15 minutes before your tour start time to check in with your guides.
Silfra stays at around 2°C all year, and Davíðsgjá is usually slightly warmer. You dive in a dry suit, which keeps you dry and insulated; the suit and all dive equipment are provided. Bring long thermal underwear and thick socks to wear underneath, plus warm clothes for the surface.
Allow 8–9 hours in total, including pick-up, the drive to Þingvellir, briefings, gear-up and two guided dives. Groups are kept small, with a maximum of three divers per guide.
