Extended Glacier Hike: Discover the Depths of Vatnajökull
Dive into an adventurous journey on one of Vatnajökull National Park's mesmerizing outlet glaciers. Our Glacier Adventure - Glacier Walk tour goes beyond the ordinary, offering a more extensive exploration of the glacier's captivating beauty.
This four-hour expedition takes place on the icy expanse extending from Vatnajökull, Europe's largest glacier. This extended Glacier Hike takes you deeper into the ice field than typical tours, led by our certified and experienced glacier guides.
Your adventure starts at our Skaftafell base, where you’ll be equipped with essential glacier gear, including an ice axe and crampons. After a crucial safety briefing, your guide will lead you onto the glacier. As you journey across the glacier, you'll encounter a stunning array of ice formations, each more awe-inspiring than the last. The glacier reveals its beauty in diverse colors – from deep blues and pristine whites to ash-covered and crystal-clear ice.
The further you venture, the more pronounced these hues become, offering a rich tapestry of glacial artistry. The panoramic views of the glacier and surrounding peaks add to the magnificence of this experience. Walking on this frozen giant, with its ever-changing landscape, is an unforgettable adventure.
Our tour, while exhilarating, prioritizes safety as you navigate through fields of crevasses and natural ice sculptures. This journey on the glacier is not just a hike; it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to intimately connect with one of nature's most stunning creations.
