ATV and Reykjaböð Hot Springs with Transfer from Reykjavík
Off-road adventure and geothermal relaxation in one afternoon
Pickup available
Ride an ATV across the lava fields and geothermal landscapes of the Hengill volcanic area, then trade the helmet for swimwear at Reykjaböð Hot Springs. Transfers connect everything, from Reykjavík to the ATV base at Litla Kaffistofan, on to Reykjaböð and back to the city, so you get adventure and relaxation in one afternoon without needing a car.
Two sides of Iceland in one afternoon
This combination pairs one of the closest off-road experiences to Reykjavík with one of Iceland's newest geothermal spas. You spend 1.5 hours riding an ATV through the volcanic terrain around Hengill, then head to Reykjaböð Hot Springs at the entrance to Reykjadalur valley in Hveragerði for around two hours in naturally heated water. All transfers are included, so it's an easy choice if you don't have a rental car or are short on time.
Your schedule
12:30 – Optional pick-up in Reykjavík
Use the optional pick-up service or make your own way to BSÍ Bus Terminal.
13:00 – Departure from BSÍ Bus Terminal
A short drive of around 25 minutes takes you out of the city to Litla Kaffistofan, the ATV base on the edge of the Hengill volcanic area.
13:30 – Hengill Geothermal ATV Tour (1.5 hours)
After a safety briefing and kit-up, your guide leads you out across black sand trails, lava fields and open volcanic terrain. Hengill sits on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, which makes it one of the most geothermally active areas in Iceland, and along the way you'll see steam rising from the ground, the Hellisheiði plateau and the bubbling Hveradalir geothermal valley. The ride is beginner-friendly, with stops along the way to take in the views.
15:30 – Transfer to Reykjaböð Hot Springs
Hand back your gear and travel from Litla Kaffistofan to Reykjaböð in Hveragerði.
16:00 – Reykjaböð Hot Springs (around 2 hours)
Warm up after the ride with Classic Admission to Reykjaböð, soaking in geothermal water surrounded by volcanic landscape. Reykjaböð is smaller and quieter than the larger lagoons, with a focus on Nordic bathing rituals: move between hot water, sauna and cold plunge at your own pace.
18:30 – Return transfer to Reykjavík
Relax on the drive back to the city, arriving in the early evening.
Food and drinks
Meals aren't included, but you won't go hungry. You can grab snacks at Litla Kaffistofan before or after your ride, and Reykjaböð has a bistro and an in-water bar if you'd like a bite to eat or a drink while you unwind.
