Tour Description

Your adventure begins in Reykjavík, where you’ll either be picked up from your hotel or meet at BSÍ Bus Terminal for departure. From there, a short 25-minute drive takes you out of the city and into the rugged landscapes surrounding Litla Kaffistofan, right on the edge of the Hengill volcanic area.

Upon arrival, you’ll meet your guide, receive a safety briefing, and get geared up with everything you need for the ride. Once ready, you’ll head out on a 1-hour ATV adventure across black sand trails, lava fields, and open terrain shaped by volcanic activity. Along the way, you’ll enjoy wide views of the Hengill mountain range and the surrounding geothermal landscapes, with plenty of opportunities to take in the raw nature just outside Reykjavík.

The ride includes multiple stops along the way, each one showcasing the raw geothermal power of the area. These include the climate innovation projects near Svínahraun lava field, the massive Hellisheiði Power Plant, the Hveradalir mud fields with a traditional Icelandic hot spring bread tasting and a viewpoint at Hengill.

The ride is designed to be accessible yet exciting, making it suitable for beginners while still offering a real sense of adventure. After your ATV experience, you’ll return to base, hand back your gear, and relax on the short transfer back to Reykjavík.
